Submitting a ProposalWHAT TO KNOW

Presenting at PNACAC’s annual conference provides an excellent opportunity to share your experience and knowledge with our community.  Participating as a PNACAC presenter allows you to grow professionally and to share best practices, insights, new strategies, or great programs that have been successful at your institution.

We seek a diverse set of session topics and presenters and hope to have sessions offered by and for high school counselors (public and private), independent counselors, community-based organizations, and college admission representatives (public and private, two- and four-year). Sessions can take the form of panels, facilitated group discussions, presentations, pre-conference round table discussions.  Presentations should be interactive and allow time for audience questions/discussions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, career/staff development; college admission requirements, policies and procedures; national issues and external influences in admission; networking; post-secondary admission issues; secondary counseling issues; student issues and technology.

For the 2020 PNACAC Conference, the IDEA Institute will be running alongside the other conference sessions. We are calling for presenters and sessions related to inclusion, diversity, equity and access. Presenters will need to indicate if they would like their session to be listed as part of the IDEA track. Example topics for IDEA Institute sessions are: recruiting and retaining students of color, gender identity in higher education, engaging men of color, supporting immigrant students and their families.

Successful conference proposals will:
  • Offer shared knowledge that can be easily implemented by other individuals or organizations;
  • Ensure collaboration with colleagues across other schools, states or sectors;
  • Can be successfully presented within the 60 minute time limit or as a half-day pre-conference session.

Proposals are due by the priority date of  January 31, 2020

The committee thanks you for your interest, and we look forward to reviewing your proposals.  Individuals will be notified by March 1 if submissions were accepted.  Selected individuals have until March 15 to confirm attendance.
