I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. Today at the MCAN meeting we offered a Suicide Prevention QPR Presentation which many of your attended. I promised to send out some resources, please see the attached documents and links below to learn more. As we discussed, there are several factors that lead to completed suicides in Montana, we know that restricting access to fatal means is vital to keeping our youth safe from an often-impulsive act. Remember Means Matters: Responsibly store your firearms unloaded, locked and out of reach and sight of kids and youth with ammunition locked and stored separately. Also, lock up your medication and consider keeping Narcan on hand, so you have it available for opioid overdoses (works for kids and dogs). Montana pharmacies have an open prescription, so if you have opioids in your home (or grandparents’ home) make sure you also have Narcan. Grief Resources: Grief After Suicide—see attached pdf. Tamarack Grief Resource Center Montana’s most comprehensive grief center in Missoula, Kalispell, and Browning. They also offer online resources.
