PNACAC Conference  |  May 20-22, 2020

5/20/2020

PNCACA Conference invites you to attend the 2020 PNACAC Conference at the Vancouver Hilton Hotel, May 20-22, 2020.

Benefits of Attending
PNACAC serves the states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington by promoting ethical standards and providing resources to our members and colleagues who guide and empower students as they prepare for college admission. Our goal is to ensure every student in the Pacific Northwest has access to informed, engaged, and ethical college admission professionals in public and independent secondary schools, community-based organizations, community colleges and public and independent four-year colleges and universities.
The PNACAC Annual Conference is our organization’s premier professional development opportunity bringing together individuals who share our goal. Through workshops, educational sessions, shared interest group conversations, counseling and enrollment professionals gain new knowledge and a revived enthusiasm to improve the opportunities for students across our five states.
By attending our annual conference and pre-conference opportunities, you will:
  • Learn about important updates for the upcoming application cycle;
  • Network with college admission and counseling colleagues outside your office;
  • Acquire best practices, knowledge and skills to meet the needs of a changing student and parent mindset;
  • Meet and connect with leaders in the region;
  • Tour colleges to better understand the region's diverse post-secondary opportunities;
  • Recharge your passion for the profession and the important work we all do;
  • Return to your office ready to implement and try new practices; and,
  • Engage with your profession and a vibrant community that can be available to support you after you’ve left.

Washington State Clock Hours will be available free of charge to participants who sign in at the PNACAC business meeting. Certificate of Attendance: Available to all conference attendees. Stop by the Volunteer Table (near the Registration Table) to request your certificate.

12/3/2019

We hope you are planning to attend the 2020 PNACAC Conference at the Vancouver Hilton Hotel, May 20-22, 2020.

We’re emailing to let you know that we are now taking session proposals for the conference.  Read on below to learn more about the submission process.

Submitting a ProposalWHAT TO KNOW

Presenting at PNACAC’s annual conference provides an excellent opportunity to share your experience and knowledge with our community.  Participating as a PNACAC presenter allows you to grow professionally and to share best practices, insights, new strategies, or great programs that have been successful at your institution.

We seek a diverse set of session topics and presenters and hope to have sessions offered by and for high school counselors (public and private), independent counselors, community-based organizations, and college admission representatives (public and private, two- and four-year). Sessions can take the form of panels, facilitated group discussions, presentations, pre-conference round table discussions.  Presentations should be interactive and allow time for audience questions/discussions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, career/staff development; college admission requirements, policies and procedures; national issues and external influences in admission; networking; post-secondary admission issues; secondary counseling issues; student issues and technology.

For the 2020 PNACAC Conference, the IDEA Institute will be running alongside the other conference sessions. We are calling for presenters and sessions related to inclusion, diversity, equity and access. Presenters will need to indicate if they would like their session to be listed as part of the IDEA track. Example topics for IDEA Institute sessions are: recruiting and retaining students of color, gender identity in higher education, engaging men of color, supporting immigrant students and their families.

Successful conference proposals will:
  • Offer shared knowledge that can be easily implemented by other individuals or organizations;
  • Ensure collaboration with colleagues across other schools, states or sectors;
  • Can be successfully presented within the 60 minute time limit or as a half-day pre-conference session.

Proposals are due by the priority date of  January 31, 2020

The committee thanks you for your interest, and we look forward to reviewing your proposals.  Individuals will be notified by March 1 if submissions were accepted.  Selected individuals have until March 15 to confirm attendance.
