Asst. to Executive Director  |  Training Manual

Montana Post Secondary Educational Opportunities Council

Welcome to MPSEOC!

Hello, and welcome to MPSEOC!

First, congratulations on your new position with the Montana Post-Secondary Educational Opportunities Council! Please consider this site as a comprehensive training manual: an introduction to the scope of MPSEOC, a layout of the multitude of vital roles you will uphold for the organization, and a tool for your future reference.

Each note highlighted in bold red text correlates with a folder or file on the Seagate Backup Plus Drive (F:), which will serve as your starting computer.

Please use the website herein as a directive recommendation for how to move through and utilize the files on the Seagate Backup Plus Drive (F:), in a way that ignites a general understanding of MPSEOC (in conjunction with your roles and responsibilities).  All files referenced on this site are organized on the (F:) drive, and contain directions on how to find each individual file or folder.

Best of luck in your new position! If anything is unclear, or if specific questions arise from this manual, you may always contact Lauren Tobias (previous position-holder) at (845) 596-4576 or LMTobias90@gmail.com. Of course, Amy Leary (Executive Director) is an excellent support system for you, as well.

Sincerely,

Lauren

What is MPSEOC?
MISSION STATEMENT
The Montana Post Secondary Educational Opportunities Council (MPSEOC) is a non-profit organization representing the 25 institutions of higher education across the state of Montana. The mission of the organization is the promotion of higher education to students, parents and high school counselors, with the awareness of the post secondary opportunities available throughout the state of Montana and beyond.  Through statewide events, resource sharing, and collaboration among the college admissions offices, high school counselors, and other educational non-profit organizations, we are here to “Help Keep Montana Education Connected”!

Please read MPSEOC’s Bylaws for a full illustration of the organization’s internal structure.

MEMBERSHIP & INSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATIVE STRUCTURE
As stated in our mission, MPSEOC represents the 25 institutions of higher education across the state of Montana. What does this look like?

Our Membership Body consists of:
  • Any Montana university, college, community college, or post‐secondary institution that is a member of and accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, or a Montana tribal college is considered a regular member of the Corporation.
  • Any salaried, professional staff member of the admissions, new student services or enrollment management offices of these institutions may attend general meetings of the Corporation.
  • The public Membership Directory listing is kept current via a back-end master Excel file, updated on a need-basis.

Institutional Representatives:
Each institution’s Admissions or New Student Services office selects one of their employees as the communicating, voting MPSEOC representative, on behalf of their office.

What does an Institutional Representative do?  In what ways do they communicate with MPSEOC throughout the year? To get a sense, please review the Institutional Rep Job Description, and then meet the current reps!

MPSEOC is also looking to grow the connection with and among the 25 Institutional Representatives. To see the Board’s feedback/ideas for future growth, review documents in the (F:) folder: General Duties & Responsibilities > MPSEOC Membership Relations > Institutional Representatives > Survey Responses Institutional Representatives.doc.

MPSEOC serves its Membership in a variety of ways.  See MPSEOC Welcome Packet (below), to learn more about the scope of MPSEOC’s work.

Please take careful time to review the latest (2017) version of the Guide, visiting any hyperlinks contained therein, and becoming familiar with the material. Meet the Executive Director with any questions.

MPSEOC Policies

The (F:) Drive folder contains all MPSEOC policies. Reading each of these in full will give a greater understanding of MPSEOC’s structure.  Further, you may eventually be working to update and consolidate these policies, so familiarizing yourself with them would be helpful.  As usual, meet the Executive Director with any questions.

Special attention should be paid to MPSEOC's Bylaws to get a better sense of the internal organizational structure.
